New Tennis Court Construction
Tennis Courts and other multi sport surfaces can be constructed in different ways. Each type of court has its advantages and disadvantages.
Did you know?
Outside dimensions of the playing lines should be:
Doubles 36' x 78'
Singles 27' x 78'
Separation between courts should be at least 24'
All lines should be not less than 1" and nor more than 2" in width, except the base line which can be up to 4" in width.
PATRIOT COURT SYSTEMS, INC. can build your court according to your needs and budget.
Hard tennis courts are considered durable and require low maintenance. All hard courts are finished with an Acrylic Color System in order to achieve uniform texture, speed of play, durability, and color. In addition, a resilient layer of cushioning material can be applied over the concrete or asphalt court. This is popular with players due to the cushion being easier on the joints.
The most common hard tennis courts are:
An advanced construction technique that is virtually crack resistant.. It is highly recommended and is the preferred method of concrete court construction in order to keep maintenance costs down.
A concrete court with steel reinforcement bars built with forms and screeds. The bars have specific placement and are secured to prevent movement. Expansion joints are installed usually between courts or at the net line to allow movement during settlement of the concrete and shifting of the ground below.
Hot Mix Asphalt is spread and compacted with a uniform density and thickness on top of a subbase. This is probably the most common tennis court. Asphalt, while softer among hard courts, is not crack resistant.
Other types of Tennis Courts are done in Clay, Grass, and Fast Dry.
